Nymphaea Caerulea is a water-lily, also known under the synonyms Blue Egyptian water lily or sacred blue lily. It has broadly rounded leaves that are bluer on the top and change to a pale yellow colour inside.
This plant is native to the area of the nile and other parts of East Africa but today can be also found on the Indian subcontinent or Thailand. This mysterious plant was utilized and admired by human since a long time ago. During Egypt’s golden age Nymphaea Caerulea symbolized health-love-rebirth in myths and stories.
The relaxing and aphrodisiac effect of the bloom was adored and consumed by the Egyptians. Early in the morning this water plant rises from deep dark water to open its blossom – Egyptian is interpreting this natural spectacle as a sign of the sun. In recent times it has been handled as something sacred. Studies proved its mild psycho-active character. Today it is benefit for food, teas, wine, perfumes and aromatherapies.
