Nelumbo Nucifera, also called Indian Lotus, Sacred Lotus, Bean of India or just Lotus. It is most commonly known as the national flower of India and Vietnam. It is native to tropical regions in Asia and Australia but also has been cultivated in water gardens around the world. This plant is an aquatic perennial which can reach a height of 150 meters and a total breadth of 3 meters. Its roots live under the water while the leaves float on top of the water surface.

Especially in Asian culture this lotus plant plays an important role since ancient times. It was often associated with divinity.
